Kalliope is a poetry workshop based on exercises illustrating a variety of basic poetic theory and technique. Members of the workshop learn by critiquing each others exercises, as well as by writing and being critiqued. The workshop is "a poetry course with lab".

Membership is open to everyone with a desire to learn more of the craft of poetry and a willingness to work at it. You will get out of the course what you put into it, so please be willing to spend several hours a week on critique, as well as on study and writing, if you sign up for Kalliope.

Kalliope has moved to Onelist.Com, which gives us excellent protection from spam and makes managing the list easier for NetMama Anitra!

There are a growing number of Kalliope lists, keeping the numbers of posts on each list to a manageable level and providing a variety of atmospheres for individual taste.

More info on our workshop lists

There have been a number of Kalliopee lists. The one most active currentlyy is 123kalliope.

The archives of each list are open only to members of that list. Whatever you post remains your own property, under your own copyright. Selected poems are displayed, by permission, in The Unicorn Pen.

In addition, members can display member profiles (as they choose) for other members (including their hompage URL's), post files for other members to download, share book marks, and keep a common group calendar for Open Mic's and such events.

You can subscribe to each list at the corresponding web link or by sending a blank email to listname-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

You will be asked to register at yahoo.com: to give them your email address and a password by which you will access your account.  This provides you with a way to access Kalliope email archives (which are private to subscribers-only), control your Kalliope subscription options (you may receive individual posts or daily digests, or go no-mail over vacations), and also subscribe to other lists or even start your own -- and manage them all from one screen display.

To unsubscribe from Kalliope, read the email archives or to change your list options, go to the list address, which will be in the form http://groups.yahoo.com/group/listname

Options that you have at the List Center include:

  • Unsubscribe from the list.
  • Stop receiving mail from the list, but remain subscribed (useful if you are going to be offline for awhile).
  • Switch between receiving individual emails as they are posted, or receiving one daily compilation of all emails posted in the last 24 hours.
  • Read the email archives.

You can also unsubscribe from Kalliope by sending a post to listname-unsubscribe-yahoogroups.com

Once subscribed, send messages to the list at the address listname@yahoogroups.com

You can communicate with the list owner, Anitra Freeman, about problems or suggestions for improving the list by mailing me at anitra@spamcop.net.  Please specify which Kalliope list you are on.
