Follow that Thought
We have made humorists like Gallagher famous for pointing out things that we didn't see right in front of us.
"I turned around to go back out of the store and they'd closed the outdoors!"
"Military intelligence is an oxymoron."
"Why do 'flammable' and 'inflammable' mean the same thing? What's the difference between burning up and burning down? How come ..."
"Of course whatever you lost is in the last place you'll look! You aren't going to keep looking after you find it, are you?
Try It Out
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
- Find at least five signs, posters, headlines or cliches that have absurd implications once you start analyzing them. Don't worry. This shouldn't take all day.
Guidelines for Critique:
- Are the implications obvious once pointed out, or is it rather a stretch?
