I would like to do an article on environmental responsibility versus fiscal responsibility, however this might take several articles.
My idea about saving the environment is buying five or ten acres with trees to build a house on. Of course, the act of cutting down some of the trees would destroy the existing microenvironment forcing me to become an arborist or land steward. Eventually taxes would cause me to sell to developers or subdivide myself.
We do far more damage to the environment each year by subdividing farms and forests into housing and commercial use. It is my observation that people moving to a suburban community put an unnecessary strain on the educational community raising property taxes and bond issues.
